okay, I’ll try to get more in-depth about at least one of these at a later date, but suffice it to say I saw two movies this weekend, one great, one pretty damn good.

eternal sunshine of the spotless mind is not to be missed. i won’t call it a realistic romantic comedy, as it’s far from realistic, but i’ll call it an emotionally-honest romantic tragi-comedy or something of the like. it made me remember that for all the shit that sometimes comes from loving somebody, i wouldn’t have it any other way.

dawn of the dead, which I mostly went to based on sonya’s review, was pretty damn good– a fair sight better than the over-hyped 28 days later. i really liked that they didn’t even try to come up with any kind of explanation, just five minutes into the thing and it’s zomie central. good performances, fairly well-shot, gory as all hell. good zombie fun. gotta agree with sonya that I totally expected to be chased by some zombie fucks when I left the theater, so that’s gotta say something. not really scary though. come on, somebody, make a goddamn scary movie!
