so this is what the belly looked like at 8 weeks:

and here’s 16:

the pictures don’t really do the baby bump justice yet, but believe you me, it’s a-growing. we had the 16-week appointment today, and for the second time got to hear the steady, steady heartbeat and the nugget swimming around in there. the nugget’s what we’re calling it for now, as we have no idea what the sex is…though ultrasound got scheduled today as well, so we may know that soon.

it’s really amazing how once you enter into this arena, all you see out in the world are pregnant ladies and kids. and then the reality sets in that soon enough, you will be responsible for one of those children, an actual other human being in the world.

and then I have to decide if this will be me. though the dude who thinks his 8-month-old is “into the stones” is a veritable douchebag, there’s something to be said for the anti-corporate/indy/not-falling-into-the-dockers-and-polos sentiment espoused by many of the so-called “hip” parents that I can relate to and hope to espouse.
